About Us
Big Bloomers Farm
A unique, community-centered space, blending family trust resources with a charitable mission to create a welcoming outdoor environment for individuals and groups seeking healing, relaxation, and educational experiences. With a focus on serving disadvantaged and special-needs groups, the farm offers carefully curated spaces where visitors, including those with disabilities, the elderly, school groups, and those in palliative care, can find comfort, learn, and connect with nature in a safe, supportive setting.
The farm is designed to provide a variety of natural experiences. Visitors can engage in food-growing activities, take part in conservation efforts like protecting native bush and streams, and benefit from holistic practices tailored to enhance well-being. Guided walks offer a serene way to explore the surroundings, while special programs led by experienced tutors can teach about horticulture, conservation, and the therapeutic value of nature. By hosting these diverse activities, Big Bloomers Farm ensures that every visitor, regardless of background or ability, has the chance to benefit from the healing power of nature in a way that meets their unique needs.
Community
Big Bloomers Farm offers guided walks through its diverse landscapes, including livestock areas with cattle, sheep, deer, and chickens, as well as a flower-picking garden, orchard, and herb garden for cooking and wellness. Visitors can also experience a 200-year-old New Zealand bush garden, providing a serene glimpse into ancient native flora. These tours offer a unique chance to learn, relax, and connect with nature.
